Deputy PM Qubad Talabani directs Ministries to fight violence against women

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Monday visited the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of the Interior to discuss ways to prevent violence against women.

Discussions in the meetings centered on the increasing rate of domestic violence and ways to reverse this trend through the law.

“No one is above the law. There is no excuse for violence against women and no one who has committed femicide will escape the reaches of justice,” Deputy Prime Minister Talabani said.

He further stressed the importance of coordination between the Ministries and authorities to prevent such crimes and bring criminals to justice.

Deputy PM Talabani expressed his concern over the alarming increase in cases and tasked concerned Ministries with increasing their efforts to fight such crimes, offering his complete support in this endeavour.

The Deputy Prime Minister further emphasized the importance of coordination between security forces across all provinces to ensure that no criminal escapes the law.
