Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discusses the drafting of the federal budget with the KRG delegation to Baghdad

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today met with the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation leading negotiations with the federal government of Iraq for the 2020 federal budget.

Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the progress made by the KRG to strengthen its relationship with Baghdad, noting that this has enabled the Kurdistan Region to be involved in the earliest stages of the drafting of the national budget for the first time.

The delegation affirmed that ongoing budget talks with the Finance Minister of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, have yielded an effective and positive agreement, which is expected to be ratified by both sides.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his hope that the federal government will remain committed to the agreement. He called on all parties in Baghdad to respect the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region and work together towards a brighter future.
