Prime Minister Barzani Receives U.S. Delegation

U.S. investors to be encouraged to invest in the Kurdistan Region: U.S. Ambassador to Iraq
 
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received a delegation from the United States diplomatic mission in Iraq, led by Ambassador Matthew Tueller.
 
The U.S. delegation congratulated PM Barzani on the formation of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Region, for which Ambassador Tueller expressed his full support.
 
On the economic ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United States, the Ambassador said they will continue to encourage U.S. investors to increase investments into the regional economy.
 
Commenting on the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation’s visit to Baghdad this week, the Ambassador expressed his hope that the Iraqi presidency, premiership, and parliament would play an active role in addressing the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad. Prime Minister Barzani stated that committees from both sides will soon start talks to explore solutions to the long-term disputes, emphasising that the constitution would be the basis of all engagement with Baghdad.
 
Both sides agreed on the importance of continued coordination of efforts to counter Islamic State (IS) activities in Iraq.
 
Discussing the new KRG cabinet agenda, PM Barzani reiterated the government’s commitment to improving services and government efficiencies, reducing bureaucracy and tackling corruption.
