Russian Foreign Minister Sends Congratulatory Message to PM Barzani

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Maksim Maksimov, who delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.

In his message, the Foreign Minister wished success to PM Barzani and the new government, and expressed Russia’s commitment to expanding ties with the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the Ambassador stated that there was strong interest from Russian businesses looking to invest in the region. In response, PM Barzani welcomed Russia’s interest in the range of investment opportunities available, noting that the new government is exploring regulatory reforms designed to increase Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the region.

The Prime Minister went on to emphasise the new government’s commitment to diversifying the economy, with a focus on industry, agriculture and tourism as key sectors.
