Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives National Security Adviser of Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today met with the National Adviser of Iraq, Falih al-Fayyadh.

Recognising the progress achieved in ongoing talks between Erbil and Baghdad, Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s commitment to reaching a meaningful agreement with the federal government of Iraq, underpinned by the Kurdistan Region’s rights enshrined in the constitution.

Prime Minister Barzani and Mr al-Fayyadh offered assurances on the continued cooperation between the Peshmerga and Iraqi security forces in the fight against common threats to the country’s security and stability whilst discussing further opportunities to support the ongoing efforts.

Regarding the recent protests in Iraq, Prime Minister Barzani urged for calm and restraint on both sides. The two officials recognised the legitimate demands of protesters and expressed support for the reforms and constructive steps taken in response by the federal government of Iraq headed by Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.
