Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today met with the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq, Paul Gibbard.

Ambassador Gibbard welcomed the new Kurdistan Regional Government’s progress with regards to female empowerment and congratulated Prime Minister Barzani on a record number of women in positions of power.

Prime Minister Barzani and Ambassador Gibbard discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations between Canada and the Kurdistan Region. The two officials also explored ways in which Canada's knowledge and experience of a federalist system could applied to the Iraqi context.

Prime Minister Barzani updated Ambassador Gibbard on the constructive dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad and on the current humanitarian situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
