Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Meets with the Commander of the Special Operations Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received Major General Eric T. Hill, Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve Commander in Iraq and Syria.

Prime Minister Barzani discussed the ongoing threat of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the challenge it presents to displaced families wishing to return home.

Prime Minister Barzani provided an update on the coordinated efforts of the Kurdish Peshmerga and Iraqi security forces to eliminate the so-called Islamic State and protect the people of Iraq.

Commander Hill praised the Peshmerga and Iraqi security forces’ robust partnership and affirmed the coalition’s support for cooperation between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government of Iraq.

Prime Minister Barzani informed Commander Hill of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s commitment to establishing a constructive and stable relationship with Baghdad, underpinned by the Kurdistan Region’s rights under the constitution.
