Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Pledges Support for Teachers and Students at the Start of a New Academic Year

Duhok, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today offered words of encouragement to teachers and students at a ceremony in Duhok province marking the start of the 2019 - 2020 academic year.

Prime Minister Barzani emphasised the Kurdistan Regional Government’s commitment to building a prosperous economy through a strong education system and increased support for schools.

He affirmed that modernizing public schools with world-class technical and educational best practice will be a priority for the new government.

Prime Minister Barzani acknowledged the central role educators played in maintaining a stable Kurdistan Region as it faced the scourge of the so-called Islamic State and a protracted financial crisis.

He shared the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of the Kurdistan Region’s hardworking teachers.

To students, Prime Minister Barzani delivered a hopeful message, encouraging them to promote the Kurdistan Region’s values of peace, respect, coexistence, and love for the environment.
