Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discusses regional security with senior UK officials

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received a UK government delegation led by Defence Senior Adviser on the Middle East, Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer.

Both sides stressed the need to preserve peace and stability in the region and de-escalate tensions through dialogue.

They agreed that ISIS poses an ongoing and serious security threat and that the international community should continue to support efforts by the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to combat terrorism.

Stephen Hickey, the UK Ambassador to Iraq and James Thornton, Consul-General in Erbil, also attended the meeting.
