Prime Minister Masrour Barzani receives Head of UNITAD Investigative Team

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday received Head of Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by ISIL in Iraq (UNITAD), Special Adviser Karim Khan.

In the meeting, both spoke about ongoing efforts to hold ISIL accountable for geocide and crimes against humanity.

During the exchange, Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed his strong support to the investigative team, and reiterated the KRG’s commitment to providing UNITAD all the evidence and information available. He also emphasised the need to accelerate the process and bring peace to the victims, including the Yazidi people.

Special Adviser Karim Khan briefed the Prime Minister on the legislative progress in parallel to collecting and digitising evidence from authorities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to use in the public trials. He recognised KRG’s important contributions in this regard.
