Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chairs meeting with Board of Agriculture

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired a meeting on Thursday via video conference with the Board of Agriculture.

At the meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and several ministers, they discussed ways to improve agriculture and the government plans and projects.

Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Begard Shukralla presented a detailed report on plans and strategy, particularly ensuring a market for the wheat harvest; private sector engagement and the preventing encroachment on agricultural land.

Prime Minister Barzani stressed the importance of agriculture as an alternative source of revenue through the protection of domestic products; support for farmers, and sourcing markets for their harvest.

The Board of Agriculture was formed on May 19, 2020 with Prime Minister Barzani as chair of the board and deputy prime minister, ministers of agriculture, finance, trade, planning, President of Diwan and Board of Investment serving as members.
