Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s message on International Women’s Day

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today congratulated women in the Kurdistan Region and around the world on International Women’s Day.

Prime Minister Barzani noted the struggle women have faced in obtaining equality and social justice, and their efforts to putting an end to repression.

Prime Minister Barzani also acknowledged the historic role women played in securing Kurdistan’s freedom. The Kurdistan Regional Government highly values the role of women in the Kurdistan Region, particularly those who have served in the Peshmerga, and who fought bravely against ISIS.

Prime Minister Barzani highlighted his cabinet’s commitment to protecting human rights in general and women’s rights in particular, as well as providing equal opportunities in different sectors.

Prime Minister Barzani also called on women in the Kurdistan Region to spread awareness about combating the coronavirus.
