Prime Minister Masrour Barzani statement in response to attack on Taji Base

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - In response to the death of US and British servicemen in a rocket attack on Iraq’s Taji military camp, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today expressed his condolences:

“I strongly condemn this attack on our Coalition partners and express condolences to the victims’ families and wish the wounded a speedy recovery.

“This attack, at a time when ISIS remains a serious threat in Iraq and the region, will only strengthen extremist groups. Our joint efforts should be focussed on defeating the terrorist threat. Iraq already faces health, economic and security obstacles. Any further escalation will simply harm Iraq and the whole region.

“We call for restraint and urge all parties, including from the wider neighbourhood, to coordinate to stop any further destabilising activity, and to focus on efforts to secure peace and stability to improve the lives of all Iraqi citizens.”
