PM Masrour Barzani receives U.S. Consul General in Erbil

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received today U.S. Consul General in Erbil Steve Fagin, who congratulated him on KRG’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the meeting, they discussed developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The Prime Minister spoke about the current financial situation and recent measures to reduce public expenditures and increase revenues. He emphasised his commitment to a constructive partnership between Erbil and Baghdad, based on each party’s rights and duties in the Constitution, including a fair distribution of revenues. He added that KRG will continue dialogue with the federal government.

They ended by agreeing to work closely together to attract greater U.S. investment. In that regard, the Prime Minister called for increased U.S. support, including the unlocking of international financial assistance to Iraq and Kurdistan.
