KRG Prime Minister welcomes President of Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today welcomed President of Iraq, Barham Salih, to discuss the evolving situation in Iraq.

Both discussed the 2021 federal budget law and the rights and duties of the KRG and the federal government of Iraq, as Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the need for both governments to build on that success to address outstanding constitutional issues through an ongoing dialogue. The Prime Minister noted the Kurdistan Regional Government is still in regular contact with Baghdad to ensure the Kurdistan Region receives its share of the budget.

On the national parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Barzani urged President Salih to play his part in helping create conditions necessary for free, fair and credible elections.

President Salih praised the KRG’s reform efforts and called for unity in the implementation of the ninth Cabinet’s agenda, urging parties to work together in the interest of the public of Kurdistan Region.
