Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomes Secretary-General of the Arab League

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to discuss the situation in Iraq and relations between the Kurdistan Region and Arab countries.

The Secretary-General praised the role of the Kurdistan Region, which has faced many challenges over the years but achieved significant political and economic success. He affirmed that his visit serves as a message to Arab countries to develop ties with the Kurdistan Region, within the framework of federal Iraq, and explore trade and investment opportunities.

The Prime Minister thanked Secretary-General Gheit for his support and hoped that, going forward, the Arab League would play a greater role in helping Iraq reconcile and rebuild. He also underscored the Kurdistan Region’s desire to foster deeper ties with the nations of the Arab League.
