Statement by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on tonight’s Erbil and Turkish base attack

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today issued the following statement regarding two security incidents in the Kurdistan Region:

"I condemn in the strongest terms tonight’s terror attacks on the Erbil International Airport and the Turkish military base in Bashiqa, and I condemn the terror group behind them.

"Any armed group that is not operating under the authority of official Iraqi security forces must withdraw immediately from the Kurdistan Region's border. Over the coming days, I will hold talks with Iraqi and international partners on practical ways to make this happen.

"I have spoken with Prime Minister Kadhimi and Speaker Halbousi tonight to reaffirm our shared goal to hold these lawless groups accountable. I assure the people of the Kurdistan Region that the members of the terror group behind this attack will be held responsible for their actions."
