Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomes Dutch Ambassador to Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received Michael Rentinar, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Iraq, and Hans Akerboom, the Dutch Consul General in Erbil, to discuss the development of bilateral relations between the Netherlands and the Kurdistan Region.

The Ambassador expressed his country's readiness to further strengthen relations with the Kurdistan Region and stressed the importance of maintaining support and training to the Peshmerga forces in the fight against terrorism.

The Prime Minister thanked the Netherlands for its support and provided an update on the government’s reform process, particularly in the area of diversifying its economy and revenue sources, and developing its industrial and agricultural sectors. The officials agreed it would be a good opportunity for the Kurdistan Region to benefit from the rich Dutch experience in those fields.

Both sides also underscored the importance of implementing the Shingal agreement and returning peace and stability to the area.
