Prime Minster Masrour Barzani receives Iraqi Minister of Water Resources

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamadani, Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources, to discuss a cooperative path forward between the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources.

The two officials agreed on the need for additional investments to renovate and upgrade dams across the country, as well as focus on opportunities to work together on strategic infrastructure projects to build new dams in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

They also discussed issues regarding the lapse in the disbursement of salaries to the Kurdistan Region’s dam employees as a result of the federal government withholding public sector funds to the regional government for several months.
