Statement by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on the passing of Dr. Rozh Shawais

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) –Prime Minister Masrour Barzani issued the statement below following the passing of Dr. Rozh Shawais.

“It is with great sorrow that I received the news of the passing of a great politician, brave Peshmerga, well-known commander and defender of Kurdistan, and a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s political bureau, Dr. Rozh Nuri Shawais.

“Dr. Rozh and his family have played a significant role in Kurdistan’s liberation movement. His passing is a great loss for the Kurdish people, as he was a patriot, a fighter, and an experienced politician who carried out his duties and responsibilities with grace and honour. He was until his last moments a strong and loyal advocate for the rights of the people of Kurdistan.

“On this sad occasion, I offer my condolences to the family of the late Dr. Rozh, as well as President Barzani, the leadership and members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and to all of us who were touched by his great work. May Allah grant him the highest ranks of Paradise and give peace and comfort to us all.

“The struggles of Dr. Rozh to strive for a better world will remain enshrined in our memory.”
