PM Masrour Barzani meets with deputy executive director of UNFPA

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday met with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Deputy Executive Director, Ib Petersen, to discuss population development in the region.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed the KRG’s readiness to support UN programs that expand regional healthcare, education, and human resources.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of performing a census in the region, particularly due to demographic shifts caused by war and instability. He noted that hundreds of thousands of families fled their homes in the disputed territories, and were later replaced with others.

The improvement of family life and the prevention of domestic violence were also discussed.
