PM Masrour Barzani receives French Delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received a French delegation led by Françoise Dumas, Vice President of the National Defense Committee of the French National Assembly, to discuss the latest regional developments and greater collaboration between France and the Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked France’s unwavering support for the Kurdish people, especially in the fight against ISIS, and reaffirmed the importance of continued bilateral collaboration between both nations.

Prime Minister Barzani noted that there is still work to be done to stabilise the region, which includes greater cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil, including joint operations between the Peshmerga and Iraqi Security Forces, as well as the implementation of the Shingal Agreement.

The delegation welcomed the opportunity to work closely with the Kurdistan Regional Government on these issues, including the Ninth Cabinet’s flagship reform plan to strengthen and grow the Kurdistan Region’s economic prosperity.

Members of Parliament Philippe Meyer and Gwendal Rouillard, as well as the French Ambassador to Iraq, Bruno Hubert, and French Consul General in Erbil, Olivier Decottignies, were also part of the French delegation.
