Prime Minister Masrour Barzani meets with high-level British delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received a high-level British delegation led by Marshal Sammy Sampson , Britain's top military adviser for Middle East Affairs, and British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey, to discuss the latest developments in the region and areas of cooperation.

Prime Minister Barzani raised concerns regarding the persistent threat of ISIS in the country and the need for the international coalition to advocate for greater coordination between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces to address the security situation in vulnerable areas, notably in disputed territories. He also welcomed the UK’s support to the Peshmerga forces in combatting terrorism in the region that pose a threat to peace and stability in Iraq and the world.

The British delegation praised the Kurdistan Regional Government’s reform efforts, especially within the Ministry of Peshmerga, and expressed the country’s continued support.
