Statement by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Eid al-Fitr

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today issued the following statement on Eid al-Fitr:

“Today, we join the Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This Eid, we recognize the prayers and fasting of our fellow citizens who have sacrificed so much during the pandemic, especially our brave Peshmerga, local security forces, and the proud families of our martyrs.

“I hope that this Eid will be a source of peace and compassion to end the misery and suffering of our peoples. It is also a chance for each of us to reflect on reconciliation and forgiveness for a brighter future.

“It is important to remind everyone that we are still fighting the spread of COVID-19 in Kurdistan, and encourage you all to follow official health guidelines to protect yourself and your loved ones.

“Blessed be your Eid, and may Kurdistan always be peaceful and prosperous.”
