PM Masrour Barzani makes key statement on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the start of a 16 day campaign to combat this, the KRG underlines it’s commitment to defending women’s rights, eliminating gender segregation and violence against women and all other violence.
The KRG works on helping women to develop, be safe and participate in all areas of the Kurdistan Region using their expertise.
KRG defends women’s rights and strengthens their status in both government and society, developing a culture of respecting human rights, achieving social justice, equality and eliminating all forms of violence or gender-based segregation.
I call on all education centres, NGOs, religious institutions, and media to help us promote forgiveness, social awareness, and stop violence, because doing so is the duty of everyone in society and we all need to work to stop these unpleasant incidents.
I hope that the Kurdistan Region becomes an example of protecting human rights in general and ends violence, especially that which is gender based, with the help of everyone.
Masrour Barzani
Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government
