Prime Minister Barzani receives US ambassador

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received the US Ambassador to Iraq Alina Romanowski.

The Prime Minister stressed that negotiations between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) are ongoing, aimed at reaching a comprehensive and fair agreement to resolve the outstanding disputes in a way that is in the interest of the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi citizens.

Both sides discussed the situation in Iraq while agreeing on the importance of reaching an immediate solution to the standing issues between the two governments on the basis of the constitution and the new government’s agenda.

The meeting also discussed ways to consolidate relations between the Kurdistan Region and the US, while also touching upon the Sinjar Agreement, and the efforts to ensure the return of IDPs to their homes.
