PM Masrour Barzani meets delegation from US-Kurdistan Region Trade Council
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday met with a delegation from the US-Kurdistan Region Trade Council, along with representatives from several US companies.
Opening the meeting, the KRG representative in the US briefly stated the goals of the delegation, which included 12 companies in the food, energy, technology, and real estate industries.
Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the delegation to the Kurdistan Region before addressing the KRG’s reform program and attempts to diversify income sources and strengthen economic infrastructure.
The Prime Minister also addressed the KRG’s relations with the federal government and the importance of resolving disputes on the basis of the Constitution. He reiterated that the Federal Supreme Court's recent decision regarding the Region’s oil and gas industry is unconstitutional and violates the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan Region.
The Prime Minister added that the ruling does not benefit the Iraqi people either, adding that the KRG will not compromise their constitutional rights and will continue dialogue to reach a solution.
Thereafter, the representatives of the companies briefed Prime Minister Barzani on their ongoing work and future plans in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
