PM Masrour Barzani meets EU delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday met with a European Union delegation led by Ville Varjola, the EU Ambassador to Iraq and Head of EU Advisory Mission in Iraq, Anne Meskanen.

In the meeting, the latest developments in Iraq were discussed and both sides condemned the recent missile attack on Erbil.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his gratitude for the EU's ongoing support and addressed the ninth cabinet’s reforms, particularly the diversification of the economy and digitization to increase transparency.

The delegation briefed Prime Minister Barzani on their work in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in aiding the government’s reform program through strengthening the banking system and security forces.

The delegation also praised the KRG's cooperation with the EU representatives.

Prime Minister Barzani further addressed the unconstitutionality of the Federal Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding the Region’s oil and gas industry and emphasized the importance of resolving issues with Baghdad through dialogue.
