PM Masrour Barzani visits areas affected by missile attack with Iraqi counterpart

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday visited the areas affected by Sunday's missile attack on Erbil alongside Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

Prime Minister Barzani thanked his Iraqi counterpart for joining him on the visit to see first-hand that the place targeted is a civilian property which has become a casualty in a foreign feud that involves neither Iraq nor the Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani added that both he and Prime Minister Kadhimi are calling for the formation of an international committee to investigate and reveal the truth that the attack targeted civilian areas, and that all rumors suggesting these were bases of a foreign country are baseless.

Prime Minister Kadhimi assured that his visit demonstrates Baghdad's continuing support for Erbil, which the Kurdistan Region reciprocates. He added that they have asked Iran to provide evidence for the stated reason behind their attack.

The Iraqi Prime Minister added that a committee led by the Iraqi National Security Advisor had been formed to investigate the attack.

Prime Minister Kadhimi emphasized that Iraq is united and that the federal government will work with the KRG to resolve all issues and support the Kurdish people.
