Prime Minister Masrour Barzani receives a letter from German FM Annalena Baerbock
Erbil, Kurdistan Region - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani receives a letter from German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock.
In the letter, German FM Annalena Baerbock thanked the Kurdistani people for their warm hospitality during her recent visit to the Kurdistan Region earlier this month and emphasized Germany’s continued support for the Kurdistan Region.
“I’m pleased to hear from you that the KRG has prioritized efforts to protect human rights, especially the rights of women and freedom of expression.” FM Baerbock states in her letter.
She also welcomed the KRG's efforts to combat the effects of climate change.
The Foreign Minister thanked the KRG’s continued support for the internally displaced people across Iraq since 2014, who still take shelter in the region. She called for continued cooperation between the KRG and the federal government to protect all components of Iraq and their rights.
At the end of the letter, FM Baerbock expressed hope for a strong partnership between Erbil and Baghdad after the successful formation of the Iraqi Cabinet. She also emphasized continued cooperation between Germany, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq.
