KRG Prime Minister Leads Efforts to Bolster Services in Halabja
On Thursday 22 February, 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) spearheaded an important session at the Halabja Governorate building during his official visit to the region.
The session convened with the presence of key government figures including Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed, and Governor of Halabja Azad Tofiq, alongside officials from local governorate and provincial councils.
Central to the discussions was the enhancement of public services within the governorate, with Prime Minister Barzani emphasising the critical need for improvements. He urged government officials to prioritise exemplary service delivery for the citizens of Halabja.
Significant decisions emerged from the session, including:
- Streamlining the legal procedures for recognising Khurmal District.
- Initiating government employment opportunities for 500 residents of Halabja.
- Launching street paving projects across Halabja.
- Establishing a committee tasked with overseeing a portion of revenue from border crossings to fund service enhancement initiatives.
- Granting Halabja Governorate authority to execute the urban master plan devised by the Ministry of Municipalities.
- Directing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish a Medical College at Halabja University.
