KRG Prime Minister, UN Envoy Pedersen Talk Security in Davos

On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), met with Geir Pedersen, the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria, at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Their meeting focused on the recent attack on Erbil by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps on January 15th. Both parties emphasised the importance of maintaining security and stability in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the broader region.

Additionally, they discussed the latest developments in Syria, including initiatives for amending the Syrian Constitution. There was a mutual agreement on the importance of protecting the rights of all communities in Syria, amongst them the Kurdish people.
