KRG Prime Minister Bids Farewell to the Dutch Ambassador
On Monday, 24 June 2024, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), bade farewell to Hans Sandee, the Netherlands' departing Ambassador to Iraq.
During their conversation, they addressed recent developments in Iraq and the wider region, highlighting the importance of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections later this year.
The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Sandee for his efforts to improve bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Netherlands, as well as the Netherlands' support for the region during the fight against the so-called Islamic State terror group. He thanked the Netherlands for its assistance in the KRG's reform process, particularly in terms of economic diversification, especially in agriculture.
The Ambassador emphasised the strong relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the Netherlands, saying that commerce between the two has doubled, and stressed his country's commitment to improving relations with the KRG.
