KRG Prime Minister Holds Meeting with Leader of State of Law Coalition

On Thursday, 30 May 2024, Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), held a meeting with Nouri al-Maliki, the leader of the State of Law Coalition.

Their meeting focused on the overall situation in Iraq and initiatives aimed at addressing the ongoing issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

Both sides emphasised the importance of resolving issues through dialogue and respecting both the Iraqi federal system and the constitutional structure of the Kurdistan Region. They also underscored the need to protect the rights of the Kurdish people, particularly concerning budgetary and financial entitlements within the federal budget.

Additionally, they emphasised the need for ongoing coordination and cooperation among Iraq's political groups and parties to address challenges, in accordance with the political agreement and the federal government's agenda.
