KRG Prime Minister Welcomes the Ambassador of the Netherlands

On Monday, 23 September 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) welcomed Janet Alberda, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq.

The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Alberda upon her appointment and expressed his full support for strengthening bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Netherlands. He expressed gratitude to the Netherlands for its ongoing assistance to the Region, particularly in the KRG's reform process, diversification of the economy, promoting the agricultural sector, and maintaining food security.

The Ambassador commended the noticeable improvement and reforms in the Region in the fields of public service digitisation as well as banking and financial sector reforms.

In addition, they discussed the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region and the importance of the elections being conducted in a peaceful and fair environment, free from violations and fraud.

Both sides agreed on the need for international monitors to observe the election process.
