Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Today, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq.

They discussed recent progress in the digitalization of financial services, including the “My Account” initiative. Both sides underscored the importance of reducing cash transactions in the market. In this context, the Prime Minister emphasized the KRG’s continued commitment to advancing digital payments across the Region.

The Prime Minister thanked the Governor for supporting the KRG’s financial reforms and commended the Central Bank’s broader efforts in improving Iraq’s banking system.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the KRG’s readiness to coordinate with institutions operating within the legal and regulatory framework set by the Central Bank.
