Prime Minister Barzani Receives New US Consul General

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received the new US Consul General to Erbil, Wendy Green, on Sunday.

The Prime Minister congratulated CG Green on her appointment and expressed his full support for the success of her mission. He also extended his appreciation to the United States for its continued support to the Kurdistan Region across various sectors.

For her part, Consul General Green expressed her delight at assuming her duties in the Kurdistan Region and underscored the importance of strengthening friendly relations between both sides. She reaffirmed her country’s commitment to further deepening ties with the Kurdistan Region and noted that a US business delegation will soon visit the Kurdistan Region.

CG Green also praised the KRG’s reforms in multiple fields, highlighting in particular the importance of the Runaki and MyAccount projects.

The meeting further addressed the need to resolve outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, ensure the rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistani people, and resume oil exports.
