Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives Japan Foreign Ministry Delegation
Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Today, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, led by Masamichi Sugaya, Director at the Middle East Division.
The meeting was attended by Akira Endo, Japan’s Ambassador to Iraq, along with several senior officials from the Japanese Foreign Ministry. Both sides underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations.
The Japanese delegation strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Khor Mor gas field and expressed solidarity with the Kurdistan Region. They also commended the Kurdistan Region’s stability, progress, and development, and affirmed Japan’s readiness to enhance relations.
Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the importance of the Kurdistan Region’s relations with Japan, and thanked the Japanese government for its continued support.
They also discussed the political situation in Iraq following the parliamentary elections, along with ongoing efforts and negotiations among political parties to form the new federal government. The delegation congratulated the Prime Minister on the successful conduct and outcome of the federal elections.
