KRG Prime Minister Meets Türkiye’s Minister of Treasury and Finance in Dubai

On Wednesday, 12 February, 2025, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Türkiye’s Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, during the World Government Summit in Dubai.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye, particularly in trade, economy, and investment.

Discussions also addressed efforts to resolve outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government of Iraq, with an emphasis on the necessary measures for a swift resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region.

Additionally, both sides highlighted the significance of implementing the Development Road Project, which aims to establish a railway connection between the Gulf states, Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, Türkiye, and Europe. They agreed on the importance of the Kurdistan Region’s active participation in this strategic initiative.
