Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives UK Military Delegation

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Today, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received a military delegation from the United Kingdom, led by the UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME), Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren.

The meeting was also attended by Andrew Bizley, the UK Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

They discussed the latest security developments in Iraq and the wider region, and ways to further strengthen security and military coordination between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom. They also addressed continued UK support for reforms within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.

Prime Minister Barzani conveyed his appreciation for the United Kingdom’s support and reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s gratitude for the longstanding partnership.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of upholding the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region, ensuring its financial entitlements, and ending drone and terrorist attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region.

The meeting also included an exchange on recent developments in Syria and the broader Middle East.
