Prime Minister Barzani Receives the U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday received Joshua Harris, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.

The meeting, attended by Wendy Green, U.S. Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, focused on the development of bilateral relations, the general situation in Iraq, the recent parliamentary elections, and the formation of the new Iraqi cabinet.

Both sides emphasized the importance of forming a government that serves all Iraqi citizens and communities without discrimination, and that respects the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region and the federal system. They also agreed on the need to ensure the Kurdistan Region receives its financial entitlements and budget share within Iraq’s federal budget, and to continue oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through Türkiye’s Ceyhan Port.

During the meeting, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires congratulated the Prime Minister on the Kurdistan Regional Government’s reforms across various sectors, in particular fiscal reforms and expressed his support.
