Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives UK Ambassador

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Today, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Mr. Irfan Siddiq, the UK Ambassador to Iraq.

The meeting was also attended by Andrew Bizley, the UK Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

They discussed protecting the constitutional rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region within the framework of the Constitution and mutual agreements with the federal government.

They agreed on the importance of resolving the salary and budget entitlements of the people of Kurdistan in a fair and fundamental manner, and stressed that these issues should not be politicized.

They also highlighted the significance of implementing the trilateral agreement that enables the resumption of the Kurdistan Region’s oil exports. The agreement should serve as a potential first step toward passing a federal oil and gas law in the next session of Iraq’s Parliament.

The Prime Minister also outlined the KRG’s institutional reforms, particularly the successful implementation of the MyAccount and Runaki initiatives.

Ambassador Siddiq congratulated the Prime Minister on these accomplishments and expressed support for continued progress.
