Statement by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on MyAccount milestone

I’m pleased to see that more than half a million KRG civil servants and pensioners now receive their salaries digitally through banks participating in the MyAccount program.
Since its launch in 2023, the KRG’s financial inclusion program MyAccount has increased the bankable population from less than 5% to more than 15% today. It has also incentivized banks to expand their retail business, increase branches and ATM networks and improve customer service. Deposits in participating banks have steadily increased — enabling loans to individuals and businesses. To date, more than $3 billion has moved through the participating banks, creating new jobs in the financial services sector and allowing credit to emerge. Access to credit is vital for growing the economy, SMEs and startups.
It has also streamlined the KRG’s payroll process, accelerating disbursements and increasing transparency in government payments.
The KRG remains on track to increase financial inclusion across the Kurdistan Region to more than 50% by the end of 2028.
This is an important milestone — but much more work lies ahead. We will continue to ensure the public benefits from secure and modern banking, in line with the 9th cabinet agenda.
