Prime Minister Barzani Meets French Foreign Minister Barrot
Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday in Davos met with Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.
They discussed developments in Iraq and the efforts of political parties to form the new Iraqi federal cabinet.
Foreign Minister Barrot conveyed President Emmanuel Macron’s greetings to the Prime Minister and stressed the importance of further strengthening the longstanding friendship and relationship between the Kurdistan Region and France.
The Prime Minister expressed the Kurdistan Region’s gratitude and appreciation for the continued support of the government and people of France.
Another main focus of the meeting was the conflict in Syria. Both sides expressed deep concern over the clashes, which pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability and risk enabling a resurgence of ISIS. They agreed on the importance of addressing issues through dialogue and negotiations and guaranteeing the rights of the Kurdish people and all components in Syria.
