Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Meets U.S. Chargé d’Affaires
Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday received Joshua Harris, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.
During the meeting, which was also attended by U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Wendy Green, they discussed further strengthening bilateral relations, the general situation in Iraq, and the ongoing discussions among political parties to form the new federal government.
They agreed on the importance of respecting the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional and federal status, ensuring the Kurdistan Region’s rightful financial entitlements, and the federal government’s continued release of salaries for the Kurdistan Region’s public employees, including the salaries for November and December of last year.
Chargé d’Affaires Harris reiterated his country’s support for the Kurdistan Region, particularly the KRG’s reforms across various sectors. He noted that the Kurdistan Region is a strong and important partner and ally of the United States in the region.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the United States’ continued cooperation and support.
They also discussed the latest regional developments and progress.
