Statement of the High Level Joint Committee of the Federal Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - The High Level Joint Committee of the Federal Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) met on Thursday, July 25, 2019, under the supervision of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region and the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy of the Federal Government.

The Committee initiated a dialogue to find solutions to outstanding issues between the Federal Government and the KRG.

Discussions were cordial and open. The Committee focused primarily on the disputed territories, budgetary and financial issues, and oil and gas.

The two sides agreed to form technical committees of the relevant ministries working under the supervision of the Joint Committee, to develop practical solutions to these issues in line with the Constitution. The technical committees will meet in Baghdad next week.
