Statement by the KRG marking Akitu

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - The Kurdistan Regional Government issued the following statement on the occasion of Akitu:

“The Kurdistan Regional Government congratulates all Christian brothers and sisters in the Kurdistan Region as they observe the birth of Akitu and celebrate the New Year for Assyrians, Syriacs, and Chaldeans.

The Kurdistan Regional Government prides itself on preserving the integrity of the Kurdistan Region as a safe haven for our Christian brothers and sisters, and a hub for peaceful coexistence. We will continue working to further strengthen these qualities.

On this occasion, we wish everyone a happy Akitu, and hope this year brings further peace and prosperity.”
