KRG Council of Ministers Deliberates on the Resumption of Oil Exports

On 5 June 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani led a session of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Council of Ministers, with Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani in attendance.

The session began with a review of the annual report on the implementation of the KRG's Human Rights Plan for 2020-2021. Dindar Zebari, the Coordinator of International Advocacy, presented the report, which had been approved by the Council of Ministers in September 2021. The president of the council of ministers instructed the relevant ministries to continue implementing the approved plan, in line with the agenda and strategy of the ninth cabinet.

Next, Begard Talabani, the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, delivered a report on the federal government's current stance on wheat procurement from farmers in the Kurdistan Region. The council mandated the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources and the Ministry of Trade and Industry to promptly implement proposals discussed during the session aimed at benefiting the farmers in the region within a suitable framework.

Finally, the council discussed the latest developments regarding the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region. Prime Minister Barzani and the negotiating team deliberated on the efforts and measures required to resume oil exports. They agreed on the importance of continuing negotiations with the Iraqi government to find a solution and expedite the resumption of oil exports.
