IKMAA Continues Cleaning Unexploded Ordnance
To safeguard the public and mitigate risks, the Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA) is continuously working to reduce the threat of mines, explosives, and unexploded ordnance through the Demining and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams.
In two separate operations, anti-personnel mines were cleared in the Qalandar Mountain area of the Mazne subdistrict, where mines were obstructing public pathways. Additionally, remnants of war were removed from Bekhal village in the Rawanduz subdistrict and transported to a designated facility for explosive destruction.
Furthermore, in the Garmian Autonomous Administration, at the request of the Garmian Security Directorate, the EOD team visited the Kalar Industrial Zone to store and transport 61 pieces of various explosives for their eventual destruction.
Citizens are advised to avoid mines or explosives. They must contact the Mine Agency’s free hotline at (182) for assistance.
