IKMAA carries Out Successful Mine Clearance Operations in Sidakan and Diana

On Sunday, 20 April 2025, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams of the Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA) in Erbil conducted two coordinated operations in the mine-contaminated areas of Mount Gorraz in the Diana District and Mejesar village in the Sidakan District. During these operations, the teams successfully destroyed and detonated 82 landmines and 12 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and remnants of war.

Operating under the Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, IKMAA has intensified its mine action efforts to address the ongoing threats posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war. These hazardous materials continue to endanger the lives of civilians across the region. In response, IKMAA teams are working daily to clear contaminated areas and have successfully neutralised thousands of landmines and other explosive hazards to date.
